    burner problems

    Hi all,

    Hope this is in right section


    My CD/DVD Burner/reader will Read CD's But will NOT BURN cd's or DVD's

    How can I fix this? I can watch movies and play music but it wont let me burn anything and wont auto play when I put the dvd/cd in the drive. Any help would be great

    What's the make and model number of the drive or computer it came with? How old is it? Are you sure it's a CD/DVD burner and not a regular CD/DVD drive?

    Also, what program are you using to attempt to burn?
    I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

    Some burners use different laser's for reading and burning...sounds like the one that burns has gone South.
    To test this swap it into another machine and try to burn...if it won't the drive has failed...
