Windows 98 problem
« on: April 09, 2004, 12:18:14 PM »
I have been using Windows 98 since 1999. It has been working fine till last week when I removed Kaazaa from my computer because it was slowing down my internet connection. Since them Windows Explore and Internet Explorer do not work any more. I can not get a listing of files.

I downloaded IE 6.0 SP 1 using Netscape browser and installed it. Installtaion went smoothly except that my computer did not re-start normally. I had to shut it down. Now it starts normally. All other software work fine. Most Wisdows functions work fine also. When I try to open Explore from My Comuter or anywhere else, an error message pops up saying that `this program has peroformed an illegal operation  and will be shut down' Can anyone tell me what could be wrong and how I can fix it.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Kazaa causes more problems that it is worth. If you can,use regedit from the Start,Run. regedit.  Open the plus symbol next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software.then find Kazaa and delete the key. Also open up HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE and do the same. Also go to Microsofts knowledge base and find REGCLEAN.EXE. It is a free registry cleaner for WIN 95,98 or ME. Also try PCWorld.com.
