i want to get the Kings Quest games-will they work

i have Windows XP, will an older game such as the Kings Quest series work on my computer?
theres were my favorite games when i was younger, and i know absolutely NOTHING about computers, so i dont know how to tell if it will work by looking at the requirements or anything like that.
i was just wondering if any of you had tried yourselves.

XP has the ability to run applications/games in different modes.  You can set it to run your game in Win95 or whatever mode the game calls for.  It can be hit or miss though so you might want to check out the game websites and look for support links or threads that deal with playing the game in XP and how individuals managed it.
