If service is listed as "Started", make sure, you stop it, first.

        OK So I got it to work, but I typed what it said on the site in the "run" box to do it.  next time i turn my comp on, Ill let you know how much faster it runs....

          ok so i restarted....didnt see too much of a difference.  I also noticed that in my hJT log i have windows defender running..... can i turn tht off?  Should I even use it?  Its not in my "add/remove" list, but it is in my program files.

          I believe, you can't uninstall Windows Defender in Vista (grrr...), but you can disable it in msconfig: http://www.simplehelp.net/2007/02/15/how-to-disable-windows-defender-from-starting-when-vista-boots/

                Well I had did somthing stupid and dowloaded some free registry fixer (not CCleaner) and when i hit "fix problems", my comp blue-screened.  I restarted it and went back to a restore point, but now my comp still seems slower than it was :(

                Try System Restore, but don't go beyond 5/27/2008. This is the date, when we finished cleaning your computer.
