Excel Autosum Incorrect
« on: June 01, 2008, 04:27:15 AM »
I'm running Excel 2007 on a Vista machine.  When I try to Autosum just two figures (which were the answers of multiplications) it is incorrect.  Viz:
9.29
11.45
Autosum says 20.75!
I know the original figure of
62.38 had been rounded up and then multiplied by 7 and divided by 47 to get 9.29
I suspect it might have something to do with the rounding up but can't find how to correct this error!
HELP please!

Excel 2007 has a known bug.  Whether or not it's been addressed in a recent update from Office Update...well...that's another story.

Anyway, you can work around this problem, by using the cell format function, specifically..."numbers"...and try playing with the number of decimal places to see if this doesn't get the desired result you're looking for.
