SATA to IDE converter for HDD
    « on: June 28, 2008, 05:36:23 PM »
So my hard drive recently crapped out (there was something physically wrong with the read/write arm).  I bought a new hard drive from ebay and discovered that it uses SATA when it arrived, and that my computer doesn't have any SATA ports.  If I buy a SATA to IDE converter (like this one: http://www.addonics.com/products/io/adsaide.asp ), does anyone know if it will work as a primary drive?  I'm going to have to install windows again, will it recognize it as a hard drive in the boot menu?

Why not use the Free diagnostics tools from the new drive manuf and simply "clone" the lod drive to the new one ? ?
Or does the drive not run at all ?
