nvidia geforce fx 5500 graphics card driver.
    « on: July 17, 2008, 03:55:35 PM »
    Hi.

Just had to do a system restore cos I got infected with both blusod and joke blusod and downloader the other day.

Soooo, I reinstalled everything, got avast anti virus off the net, and then downloaded the latest driver for my graphics card.

What happened?  It made everything bad!  Somehow, it reset my colour scheme to 4 bit!  So I downloaded a previous driver and that had the same result.

Anyone got any advice?  I've been working on it all day and its doing my head in!!

    Cheers, guys. :)

Can you try to Roll Back the driver via Device Manager?

What Operating System are you using?

still using xp.  Rolled it back using device manager - thing is, the animation I'm getting is jerky as *censored*.  Think I may just get a new card - anyone suggest one?

OK.  This is a little strange.

I downloaded the 169 driver for the card and....its working.  It didnt work the other day, but now it is.  The only difference in my system is that I am now running on wireless internet rather than using a cable to connect to my router.  Could be as simple as having a dodgy cable?  Would that have any effect, maybe scramble the download or something?

It could be. Try using your cable again and, if the internet is still dodgy, try using a different cable.
