    EAcceleration Stopsign removal
    « on: August 01, 2008, 07:09:24 AM »
I received Excellent help on a speed issue with my computer and I now have another issue that I need some help with.  I have this message that appears and I thought I had removed this completely.

    The message is as follows:

"Your StopSign installation has been corrupted.  Reinstalling may fix the problem.  To re-download the software, please visit: www.stopsign.com/install

If you continue to experience this error, you may have other software installed that conflicts with StopSign.  Please contact StopSign Support for further assistance."

It does not show up in "Add/Remove Programs" and I can't find anything that belongs to it anywhere.

    Thanks

I have actually been through that whole process with evilfantasy from a previous issue, do you still want me to do it again?

Evilfantasy helped me remove tons of malware but I get this message and I didn't want to do anything to compromise all the work we did previously, but if I need to do this all over again I will, I just wanted to be sure.

      Thanks

I would start with a HijackThis.

        Have HJT fix this entry.

        O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SoftwareStation] "C:\Program Files\eAcceleration\Station\station.exe" /b Startup

Boot the computer into Safe Mode and delete the entire eAcceleration folder.

Found in C:\ > Program Files > eAcceleration

Run CCleaner after you remove it in Safe Mode then restart to Normal Mode and see how everything is now.

          Evilfantasy,

          Perfect...No more error message.

Thanks a bunch....Will stay far away from that in the future.

eAcceleration is legitimate software. I didn't catch it in the log the first time because I didn't know it was giving you problems.

          Glad you got it fixed!

Thanks.  That is good to know...I actually didn't even think about the issue because it only happens at start up and I think I was focused on the speed.  But glad that we got it taken care of and now there are NO more issues right now at least.

            Thanks a bunch evilfantasy.
