            OK, so we have a whole new issue, and I don't think it's DVD's fault.

              I've found a ton of stuff on dual boot configs and trying to partition afterward.  I want to cry now. :'(

              At what exact point are you getting mentioned error?
              There is number of hits on Google about your error, but not too much help.
              Some indicate damaged partition.

                I am getting it when I try to partition the now unallocated space and select where to install windows.

                  Well, I have a 30GB partition that I am going to install vista on.  After it is loaded and I verify that my NIC is working as intended then I will deal with the partition issues from inside windows using the diskmanager or whatever it is called.  Bah, so much for a relaxing weekend lol.  Thanks for all your help Broni!
