    My Music
    « on: August 22, 2008, 04:38:52 PM »
I takes about 10 seconds for my new computer to open up my music file, Which contains about 3.5 GB of mp-3s. My old computer would open It up right away and it was way less powerful. What could cause this and how can I fix?

How much RAM have you? Hard drive size? Free space?

      Windows version?
      Is indexing on, or off?

I have 4Gb Ram plenty of free space on my 500 gb harddrive, This Is the only program that opens slow. I have Windows XP Home, I am not sure about the Indexing being off or on. How can I check?

          Heh, sorry about that.

Right Click the folder and go to Advanced and make sure there is a Tick at For fast searching, allow Indexing Service to index this folder.

Ok I did as you said, Still takes 10 to 12 seconds to open. Let me try to reboot. No this did not work.

No, go the other way, disable indexing.
If that doesn't work, there may be some context menu issue.

I don't think there is any way around it. It is, well, 3.5Gb, and that's a lot of space.... It's bound to take longer than a folder with 10mb in it to load.

What I don't get is that your old PC opened them straight away.... ???

OK, I solved the problem. went to my music, Properties, customize, What kind of folder do you want, chose Pictures (best for many files). Opens right up! Thanks for trying to help me with this one, Sometimes you just have to brainstorm to solve a problem. b][/b]
