    computer shuts down
    « on: August 27, 2008, 07:44:37 PM »
when on the internet my computer gets caught up on some larger sites, then a blue screen appears that say computer must shut down to avoid damage. i have windows xp and the following error is on this blue screen. kernal_data_inpage_error. there is also error info that says:
    stop: 0x0000007a
    c0xc07b9ec8, 0xc000000e, 0xf73d9a43, 0x08b64860
    ntfs.sys-address f73dd9a43
    base at f738a000
    dateStamp 41107 eca

it also says begin dump physical memory. I rebooted my system yesterday, is there anything i can do to stop this? is it very serious? Also it says that it might be a hardware issue, but i'm on a ladtop and don't have any hardware on it. It also says to disable chaching or shadowing. how do you do this on XP?

    Go Start>Run, type in:
    chkdsk c: /r
    Click OK.

its saying chkdisk cannot run because volume is use by another process. check next time system restarts. i tried to close all programs and do it again and same thing.

        It's OK.
You need to keep TAPPING F8 key, not pressing it.

Get free hard drive diagnostic tool: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
          It'll create bootable CD.

No, you have to identify your hard drive maker. Go to Dell site, enter your computer service number, and it should tell you. If not, post back.
