Has anyone tried IE8 beta? Comments?
If you don't have time to do it right
...when will you have time to do it over?

    Resisted the temptation! ;)

Haven't read up on it - does it have any major advantages over v7?  Wonder if it will help ease cross browser CSS problems.

Supposedly, IE8 will be "more compliant with web standards." I have not tried it - from what I've read, it has a "porn mode" (or is that a "safe browsing" mode :)) like Safari, an Awesome bar type feature (like FF3), a tab grouping feature and a 'web slice' feature.

I'll wait for the next beta or the release version before I try it - unless the overwhelming opinion here is that it is a "must have" - hence, the topic.

I have used (and felt secure with) FF for a long time and suspect that IE8 won't make me want to change from the then current version of FF - whenever IE8 is released. I'm waiting for the MS announcement of release date so that I can add a year or so to it!

I imagine our Browser Section is going to be getting quite a few hits pretty soon...      ::)

Please move this if it would be better somewhere else.

I've been using IE8 beta 1 on my test XP for a while, but I wasn't impressed by any super features.
I installed beta 2 tonight, so I'll let you know, how it goes.

Anyone reading this thread and considering installing IE8 beta 2, needs to read this: "Users of Windows XP SP3 who simply install IE8 Beta 2 may actually find the browser being locked into their system without any chance to remove the browser without a full reinstallation of the operation system. According to a Microsoft IEBlog post, this scenario will be in place if you installed Windows XP SP3 after installing IE8 Beta 1 and you now choose to install IE8 Beta 2 on top of Beta 1 - and ignore a window with a warning. Microsoft said that you will be able to install Internet Explorer 8 Beta2, but once installed, you will not be able to uninstall either IE8 or Windows XP SP3 later."

“If you chose to continue, Windows XP SP3 and IE8 Beta2 will become permanent. You will still be able to upgrade to later IE8 builds as they become available, but you won’t be able to uninstall them,” program manager Jane Maliouta wrote in her blog post.

That's enough to convince me to leave it alone...

I don't even have IE7 yet. I only have IE6 here for a Halo Maps Website (it doesn't work in Firefox)

Just curious - why not IE7?
