    unable to access Gmail
    « on: August 30, 2008, 12:44:10 AM »
    Hi there

My Gmail suddenly stopped working. I can access Google but when I select Gmail, all I get is a very slow response and nothing changes. I'm using Windows XP SP2. And I'm on ADSL broadband.

I have also noticed that a lot of web pages cannot be displayed. And other ones are OK.
If I search for Gmail in Google, I get all the various items referring to Gmail, but whenever I select one of these, my computer sure drags its feet and nothing happens.

    Can anybody help please.

I suggest resetting your router and modem by unplugging their power chord for about 20 seconds.
Then plug them back in and see what happens.

Try deleting your browsing history, i.e. temporary Internet files, cookies, and history.

I recommend getting CCleaner (yes, with 2 c's) for stuff like this.  It also gets rid of unused programs and cleans up your registry if you want it too.

It doesn't remove programs but it is a very good disk cleanup utitlity and a safe registry cleaner.  Yes, it can be used to clear browser cache instead of doing that from your browser.

          It doesn't remove programs
It won't remove programs 'automatically' but has an "Uninstall" feature similar to Windows' Add/Remove Programs.

Yes, I know, but I don't believe that's what he meant.
