    Forgive me, where do I access BIOS?

        Try removing the CMOS Battery (battery on the motherboard) for about 10 minutes.
        Then put it back in and turn the computer on.

          In Device Manager, delete DVD,or CD drives and close it.

          Scroll down the below link until you come to the 'Download Guided Help'

          It is a small 127kb program download and run the Guided Help program  run the program, then reboot your computer.

            Hi Thanks for your help with this. I did as
             you said to do and the same exact thing is happening, a box says "no disc in drive d and so on.

              Yes I even did it twice but to no avail. When I go directly onto"My computer" and click it says: "D"/ is not accessible  Access is denied"  and if I try and run power dvd, it says : Insert disc, even if there is a cd or dvd in there it still says this.  I even installed another trial version of pwerdvd and it does the same thing.  When I check device manager, there are no yellow question marks, and when I click on it, it says the program is running fine.  I have never heard anything like this before, I am totally stumped.

                  Did you try system restore to a date before 09/09/2008.or before
                  you installed SP/3 ?

                  I have SP/3 installed but, I have never uninstalled SP/3 before.
