Issue with Vista screen -- flickering

Hi everyone,

So my roommate is having some trouble with laptop (HP Pavilion dv6000, OS: Windows Vista). She logged on this morning and her screen begin to flicker off and on. She automatically turned it off (manually). Now, when she turns the computer back on, nothing happens except all the keyboard lights light up indicating that it actually powered up. (No, you can't log on in Safe Mode -- nothing happens.)

She'll be taking her computer to Best Buy tonight, but in the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions, it'd be great to save a trip.

No, she isn't.

However, we managed to get the problem fixed -- it was a simple matter of her external monitor being activated.
