Apple mac and zip drive
« on: October 20, 2008, 07:12:35 AM »
I have a faulty zip disc which I would like to try to recover data from. However I can't get it to mount on the desktop. Any ideas on how I can access it? Sometimes it does appear and suggests I initialise it. If I do this and all data is wiped what are my chances of retrieving data using something like Boomerang?
Would really like to mount the disc though so I can see what I can retrieve.
I use an applemac OSX and the zip drive is separate and run with a USB cable.
Thank you
Sue

Open up disk utility (found at hd --> applications --> utilities --> disk utility).

Once open, on the left hand side you should see what drives/disks are recognized.  if you click on the zip drive (if you see it), you can then click on "mount."  This will attempt to mount the drive.

If you are still having issues I'd recommend Drive Genius or something of that sort to recover the data.
