    Problem with Drivers
    « on: November 18, 2008, 09:10:35 AM »
Recently my brother installed drivers from the toshiba site on to my toshiba L25 XP Pro SP2. Since then my system has been running very slow on bootup and programs take along time to load. It seems that the drivers he downloaded were run from the site over what was already installed. Drivers show no conflict but some drivers state not installed but working.

Any help will be much appreciated, Thanks

I would travel to Toshiba's site and DLoad the correct drivers according to your model # and OS...
Then compare the filename with the one your brother installed...sounds like they're not the correct ones.

Did find the program: versiontracker, program no longer on pc

        under system devices:

ATI SMBUS  No drivers are installed for this device. But under resources tab shows conflicting device list, Input/Output Range 8040 - 804F used by:  Motherboard resources

Direct memory access controller:  No drivers are installed for this device.

listed Twice - (1) Motherboard resource:  No drivers are installed for this device.

                              (2) Motherboard resource:  No drivers are installed for this device.  But under resources tab shows conflicting device list, Input/Output Range 8000 - 805F used by: ATI SMBUS

Numeric data processor: No drivers are installed for this device.

Programmable interrupt controller: No drivers are installed for this device.

System  board: No drivers are installed for this device.

System speaker:  No drivers are installed for this device.

System timer: No drivers are installed for this device.

Would like to note on all above entries, on General taps, Device usage, it's listed as use this device (enable). On Resource taps there all listed as setting based upon (current configuration) which is greyed out. Could this be the problem?

Would be willing to send Everest report if asked.

He didn't install the correct drivers for that machine.
I would re-visit Toshiba's site and/or contact the seller to see if he has the original Toshiba Driver CD.

I did look at the site and matched what they had for this model, and what was downloaded is on this system, there wasn't much up there. The most current download is for the year 2006.
When I purchase this system from the previous owner, he stated he did not receive a CD and I wasn't to concern at the time cause it was running fine.

I guess my last question would be if those drivers were not installed that I've listed previously, would disabling them make a difference?

They need to be installed properly or that machine will continue to give you headaches...

I don't quite understand this...i think you've gotten caught up in finding NEW drivers ...forget that. Install the ones for the machine ...
