My Advent 7098 Windows XP Laptop Won't Start Up!

Start your computer back up and tap F8 to get into the advanced startup options. Here, choose "Disable automatic restarts on system failure" This should keep it from restarting. The blue screen error message should stay on the screen now. Write down that error and post back with it.

Have you made any hardware or software changes latley?

You will need an XP CD. Do you know anyone else that has one? It has to be the same version.

Is there a way to do a system restore so it can be restored to an earlier date when it worked? Or do you know of any sites where i could download the disks onto a CD because my laptop doesn't have a floppy disk drive.

Unfortunately, you cannot use the system restore function unless you can acess your user account on the laptop. Correct me someone if I am wrong.

Hello I would just like to know if you did get your Laptop to Boot,

I have just experienced the same, I think I must have shut it down befor it Closed itself

It will boot into start Windows Normally or Boot into the Last Known Good Configeration and then will go no further have you any ideas to offer Napdak

That being said:

The kernel mode I/O subsystem attempted to mount the boot volume and it failed. This error also might occur during an upgrade to Win XP on systems that use higher throughput ATA disks or controllers with incorrect cabling. In some cases, your system might appear to work normally after you restart.

Check your cables and/or see if the laptop drive is seated properly...
