Seiously in need of some help

My computer is been acting really slow lately. For no apparent reason this has happened. I believe I got a virus or something when I went to some website. I noticed that the computer ran the last few days. The computer would stop responding lag and I am actually now scanning my computer with avg free and will post the results when finished.
