    Are you trying to power it through USB as well?

      I'll assume XP...
      Right click My Computer and select Manage then Disk Management...
      How does the drive show up in there ? ?

      no, removed the FW (from drive only) and plugged in a USB cord.

      So you're not powering it with either the use of an adapter or an extra USB cable?

      That might be your problem. Can you link me to the manufacturer's product page?

        for one, check the specs under my name, xp pro.
        Just to let you know there are 3 different operating systems listed in your specs so how are we supposed to know which one is the right one.
