d3dx9_34.dll installaion on 64bit Vista system
    « on: January 03, 2009, 12:21:18 PM »
    Hi,
Bought new pc for xmas but my son is having an error come up when trying to run games. Seems to be quite a common one.
    d3dx9_34.dll missing, try reinstalling application.
The tricky bit is that I am out of the country until the 15th Jan and therefore trying to help via phone and msgr.
After research it has led me to Directx 9.c needing to be installed. My son did this but then got a conflict error with the the DirectX 10 that comes with Vista.
"setup has detected one or more directx component files are in use by an application please exit all programs before starting again"

After more searching I believe it is a case of installing the single d3dx9_34.dll file if this is so.
My question is where do I extract and install it to. Have read it needs to go into Sys32 folder whilst others have said Syswow64 .
Can someone please advice and please try to keep it simple as I need to explain i to my 12yr old.
