nice ivy! and BC how did you learn to use 3ds max? any tips for the beginer? (aka me)
learned 3ds max back in high school; so I had the advantage of a teacher, I suppose. I'll see if I can find some of my old animations; there was one that was two toy cars racing around a bedroom.
the animation was terrible, and half the time they just kind of "floated" into position; but the scenery was fairly good.
Since I started using it back in grade 9, I think (this after school thing)... I learned 3ds max before I even started programming; but when I started it to make that mirror/disco ball thingy... I have forgotten so much!
One day I might buy something and say 'ya know, my friend BC programmed this'
if it's licensed under my purrtend corporate name, "BASeCamp Programming" then you won't have to pay for it; not just because I'd give it to you for free, but because it would be free.
At least to start out, I'm not going to charge for my programs; they are going to be freeware, because I remember when I was starting out, it was hard to get anything I needed legally, like Windows itself, and Visual Studio.
And if somebody learns scripting because of my programming language, that would be great.
you could make some animations in flash! I've seen Anime-like creations made with it; I think you can even import illustrator documents into it, and then animate them- something worth looking into
I'll see if I can dig up some of my old stuff...
ahh, here's something: a old game I made;
http://www.filedropper.com/gravgameI made it almost 5-6 years ago now; so 15-16yrs old.
Basically- you try to shoot a little ball at a box that appears somewhere in the play area. there are power-ups that appear, and I believe I explain them in the help menu (BTW, it says there is a "full help" or something, but there isn't).
"Warheads" are collected and can be used to get the box when the circle is close; I had to look in the source code to find out the keys (even I forgot
), but it appears that pushing "W" activates and deactivates the warheads. Pushing "D" at any point while the ball is active will detonate the warhead within it and cause a small "nuclear" explosion, which can be used to destroy the box if it is close enough.
Known bugs:
(hmm, I should be putting this in a readme...)
because of the way I randomized the box's position, it is possible that the box will appear in a place that makes it impossible to hit. if this happens, you can usually use the warhead feature to destroy it.
Resizing:
looks like I coded the ability to resize the window, but there is one problem with it- if you enlarge the window, hit the box, and it is placed somewhere else, you can shrink the window smaller then the location of the box and make it impossible to hit. If this happens simply enlarge the window further.
I think I had cheats in it, but I cannot remember.
it's kind of buggy, but nothing that'll break a computer; worst that will happen is the program crashes. I've only been able to get crashes when the high scores file or config files are read-only.
I could easily fix it... and I do still have the source, but if I do that I'll just end up rewriting the whole thing to meet my new coding style
I would have uploaded my "POING" arkanoid clone game, but I have problems getting it running on my own computer.
In lieu of that, though: I'll show you some screenshots
the main game window- As evident in the screenshot is a bug: the number of balls displayed in the silly "teleporter" thing I added is actually more then the number present; additionally there are many problems with erasing blocks and balls when they leave the playing area.
the "high-scores" window... looks like I haven't gotten a new high-score in a while
it even had an included level editor:
How about that?
lol, I actually fixed a bug in the editor when I went to take the screenshot. Turns out I hadn't even finished a small change I was in the middle of when I stopped work on it.
