hi guys! pls help me with this one...i wud lyk to know how to create a virtual hard disk in windows xp? thanks...

So that it is a folder mounted as a drive somewhere else?

I think I know this one

click start > run
type cmd and push enter
in the CMD box type subst X: X:

The first X is the letter of the "virtual" drive
The second X: is the path to the folder you wish to use as the root directory for the new drive.

Hope this is what you wanted

Thought I would expand on that.

for instance:

subst o: C:\WINDOWS

would create a virtual drive O: that leads to the WINDOWS folder.

So you would create a new folder in the drive you want to use as space, say on D: drive, called virtual, with the virtual drive being V:

You would type:
subst v: D:\virtual

and there you go I'm done with my rant

That links seems to indicate Vista. The TS wanted XP.
Microsoft offers a 'Virtual Hard Drive' that is used by developers and end-users to evaluate software without that hassle of configuring their system to the test software. The Virtual PC appears to be the same thing with a better name.

The vendor will offer his customer a Virtual Disk pr Virtual PC that can be downloaded on a high-speed internet. Then the customer can give it a try out without the need of doing a real installation of the software.More information is on the Microsoft.com site using the link Broni gave above.
