For those that know speedfan...
« on: January 14, 2009, 12:43:02 AM »
Hi guys

I was wandering through my speedfan today and came across the Exotics tab.

All looked fairly normal (CPU temps were through the roof as were HDD temps at I only have the CPU fan running at the moment and both side panels off, and backing up to 2 20GB drives all my important stuff for when my new build arrives. And for lack of room in my case...there are 4 7200RPM drives stacked on top of each other...gets kinda hot :P

anyway that was when I came across what I put a big red box around in the screenshot.

Percentages on HDD'S??
What on earth does it mean?

It's the first I've ever seen of it...any insight would be most appreciated :)

As far as I'm aware, those percentages relate to the health of the drives.  I'm not 100% positive on this, but when I discovered it myself a few weeks ago (been a while since I'd used Speedfan before that) it seemed to roughly correspond with the drive's health/performance ratings in the SMART tab.
Remember that the Exotics feature, as it says at the bottom, is still in beta stage, so it may not even relate to anything.

Okay that seems entirely possible :)

I did in depth analysis of all the disks though and they all was 99%-100% for either fitness or performance, but not both, ie one was 99 one was 100...so 94% on two drives doesn't seem right...i know they aren't all 94%+ full...one has at least 10GB left and is only a 20GB drive

They are the equivalant of SMART readings...they have nothing to do with the amount of used space.
