Error Messages and Slow to Load Pages
    « on: January 15, 2009, 04:14:33 AM »
Hi all you Handsome Gurus,  ;D
I need your help, please!!  :P
I am currently running MSW XP Pro SP2 and have recently done a fresh install due to other issues. Currently I have been getting several error messages as my pages close, such as
dwwin.exe 0x000012d, iedw.exe 0xc0000142, 0xc0000017  Also, my pages are taking forever to load, like it's giving birth or something!!!::)
I am not sure what to do to straighten it out. What would you suggest?  ???

Thanks in advance for helping me!!  :-*

No wonder, I'm the only person, who's replying ;D

You need to post full error messages, and tell us when they happen.

    Please, post some computer info:
    - processor type, amount of RAM (hold Windows logo key, hit Pause/Break key)
    - hard drive size/free space (open "My Computer", right click on hard drive letter, click "Properties")

      Oops, My bad,
       Machine Specs:
      AMD Athlon(tm)
      1.14 GHz,256MB of RAM
      300 GB
      291GB free
      6.67 GB used

Error messages ocurred when I was on IE, on random sites and pages. The messages were dwwin.exe 0x000012d failed to load properly, and iedw.exe 0xc0000142 failed to load properly, and 0xc0000017, also, runtime error without me initializing any program other than IE.
I am current with my updates on all programs.
All of my earlier issues were resolved when I wiped out the hard drive and did a fresh install 2 months ago or so.

First of all, you have very little RAM to run XP. You should have at least 512MB, 1GB preferable.
I understand, the errors happen only with IE, right? What IE version?

In IE, go Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab, click on "Reset" button. Restart computer.

Yes, it did help alot, thanks! Also, could you tell me if I should run registry mechanic? I was told by another one of the members on here that he thought it was a problem with Dr Watson and that running registry mechanic would help that. So far I have had no further issues.
            What do you think?

Forget Dr. Watson, and don't play with the registry.

Dr Watson was a cheap joke program microsoft threw into Windows 3.1 to lull users into thinking that it could stop or at least provide helpful information on application crashes. Of course at the time most crashes were blue Screen GPFs, and even those that did invoke Dr Watson as a debugger, Dr watson pretty much said... "oh, hey there- I know you just clicked Ignore about 20 times in that "general Application Error" box, but I thought I'd let you know that that program crashed. Ok thx"

And then it would crash too half the time.

The fact that they even recompiled for 32-Bit or more amazingly NT is a joke in and of itself; although it has many times more useful. (bear in mind that it started at zero to begin with...).

Short story- you can't have problems with Dr.Watson... rather, it can be installed to log application crashes. I don't think it is set up that way by default, so somebody made some wild assumptions about your computer's setup.

Broni always knows what he's talking about, and sometimes I'll let out two half-truths.

there is a margin of error, of course.

My truth-sensing device may be in need of calibration.

I went to Dr Watson once though. I was having trouble taking Stack Dumps.
