    sound card failure?
    « on: January 19, 2009, 01:39:22 PM »
I have an IBM T20 laptop that I am using SONAR 6 on. I recently had to reload Win XP SP2 and now my sound card fails to function properly for SONAR. SONAR and the sound card, Crystal Sound Fusion - on the MB, are both configured correctly but SONAR experiences audio drop out whenever I put it into record mode as well as the laptop becoming very sluggish. I've installed the latest drivers and nothing changed.
Windows has been unable to restore to a previous point so I am ready to reinstall XP again, just wanted to see if anybody had a better idea.

    Thanks!

Right click "My Computer", go to Properties
Click the "Hardware" tab, then "Device Manager"

Are there any devices with a yellow ! or ? next to them?
If so, doubleclick, tell us what they say for Device Status.

You can also try this while you are there:
Click the "Driver" Tab, and click "Uninstall"
Restart the computer, and see if anything is different. You may need to reinstall the drivers after uninstalling the hardware.

      Nope, no device warnings.
Already tired rolling back the driver but not the remove/reinstall yet.
Thanks for the reminder. Will give it a spin tomorrow.
