How about device manager? Any errors (yellow exclamation marks / red x's) and what are being displayed under the floppy controllers and disk drives? Additional information about Device manager can be found on the below link.

Finally, this is a 5.25" floppy disk drive is it? We just need to make sure because this of course will not work in 2000.

The device manager says everything is good.

It is not a 5.25"  It is the small 3.5" Diskette Drive.
