    Installation in Progress

    I keep receiving an error when I try to install or upgrade software. An error pops up that an instillation is already in progress and i must either cancel or complete before I can start the new one. How can I find out what it is and fix the problem

    What program is it?
    Install, or upgrade?
    Did you restart computer, and try again?

      I can't find out what is supposed to be installing and it's been happening for a month or two after many restarts and shut downs.

        Correct if I try to install software I receive an error saying another program is installing and needs to finish.

        What program are you trying to install? Any program?
        What is the EXACT error message?

          ERROR1500.Another installation in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one.
          That was for Adobe reader8.1.2
          I have no idea what the OTHER one is or how to find out.

          Are you getting the above error ONLY during Adobe installation, or ANY installation?

            Multiple programs and trying to remove programs also using ADD/REMOVE in control panel

              Try Windows Installer CleanUp Utility: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

              Download HijackThis:
              http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis/download
              by clicking on Download HijackThis Installer
              Install, and run it.
              Post HijackTHis log.
