Ok I deleted McAfee and then I clicked on the Firefox icon on my desktop and my homepage opened up and then I clicked on Smartmoney and look at DRYS stock screen and then I clicked on the profile section and the page that I was looking at closes and then I have to click back on my Firefox icon to get my homepage to open again.  Thats the best I can do.  Thanks for any help, I did not think the Avast and McAfee could be the problem I have been running both of them for at least 6 months or more and have never had this problem before the last few days.

First of all, to uninstall McAfee completely, use this tool: http://majorgeeks.com/McAfee_Consumer_Product_Removal_Tool_d5420.html
Secondly, you still didn't answer my question, or I don't understand...

It goes away and leaves my desktop just as it was when I first turned it on.

Close Firefox. Go Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox, click on Mozilla Firefox (safe mode). Same thing?
Does same thing happens with IE?

Did that and restarted computer then clicked on safe mode and then clicked back on smart money and clicked on ratings and the page closed and I had to click back on firefox to open my home page again.  I have been noticing that on almost every page I get the firefox block to each page which says firefox stopped this page from opening automatically and I have to click allow, I don't remember that happening as much as it has been lately.

thanks for all your efforts, I am giving up on it for now.  I just will not click on those that are causing me the problems.
