What does defrag have to do with compression?
If he wants a nice graphic, install Windows 98 on a FAT32 and use the tools in windows 98. As I recall, it looked so cool seeing the sectors move from here to there. You could spend hours doing this. Then spend more hours testing to find out how much time you could save if things loaded faster and you would not be wasting hours on front of the computer.
