Hi Every one!
My name is Neil and i am struggling to get my sata drive set up properly.
my original set up had a 250gb HDD as master and an 80GB HDD as slave on the primary IDE channel, but my 250 died. so i pulled it out and stuck in an old 30GB drive to use in the mean time until i could buy a new drive.
I did a little research and discovered that my mother board (VIA KT600DAP) has sata connectors and supports 150mb/s speed and RAID0, 1.
So my replacement drive is a 300GB sata drive, but my computer doesn't recognise it.
I have had a good look about in my BIOS, and also tried plugging it into the other port, i also tried starting up with all the IDE HDD's and dvd drives disconnected.
I have also ensured that the jumper on the new sata drive is in the 150 position rather than the 300 position.(board doesnt support the faster speed).
My bios is Phoenix award V6.00PG.
And here is a link to a downloadable manual for my motherboard with BIOS info too. I have printed it.
http://www.jetway.com.tw/jw/download_address.asp?downid=757&proname=V600DAP&downtype=Manual-Englishim using a free OS called Ubuntu/linux when i get drive running, i intend a fresh installation of xp.
