Thanx for responding. I'm using XP Pro sp3, on an HP 2.2ghz. 1G ram AMD,
I am getting an error... "error 1935 an error occured during the installation of assembly Microsoft.visual Basic, Vsa,version="7.0.5000.0" public key Token+"bo3f5f7f11d50a3a", Culture= "neutral", file version="7.10.3052.4'". Please refer to help& support for more information  HRESULT:0x8002802F
I recently installed sp2, and sp3 respectively, I've gone to Microsoft web site and was told to go to add remove programs and remove a hot fix# however I have no file on my list even with the check box checked to show updates. does this help you to help me?

If you have an XP CD go to Start/Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter...
Have the CD handy it will ask for it.
      When it finishes re-boot.
      Then re-install .NET 1.1

I've done as you said, a window came up  windows file protection please wait while windows verifies
that all protected files are intact and in their original versions, I waited until it was finished (bout 10 minutes). I rebooted then inserted disk again  to window welcome to windows , went to install framework *clicked on it and nothing would happen.

Try uninstalling the .NET framework in Add/Remove programs and then install a fresh download of it...

I have already been to add remove programs but no frame work is listed, nor any hot fixes.

thanx again for your help, I have just gotten to the comments under "installer" and realize I have framework 2*
so I'm a little redfaced, and I'm coming to the conclusion that the fault is with my quickbooks software. Now since I unregistered and re registered windows I have some how lost the ability to load any web pages,in explorer, I'm considering locating the closest trash compacter I can find and dispose of this headache of a computer once and for all ???

Don't get redfaced nor give up...
The .NET frameworks are independent of each other and are not cumulative as the SP's are...
Re-install them one at a time re-booting between each...
              Best of Luck !

              hey! ;D

              I would say:

A better way would be to use this free and portable ASoft .NET Version Detector. It is a lightweight tool that gives information on the different versions of Microsoft .NET that are installed on a machine. If a certain version isn’t on the machine, you can simply follow the link that .NET Version Detector suggests, so it is easier for the novice user to find the runtimes

.NET Version Detector 2007 supports detecting all versions (1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5) of .NET Framework can also be run in all versions of Windows (95/98/98SE/ME/NT4/2000/XP/2003/Vista).

Download .NET Version Detector 2007 from http://www.asoft.be/downloads/netver2007.zip

              Then:

Uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework with Aaron Stebner Cleanup Tool:

Aaron Stebner’s .NET Framework Setup Cleanup Utility contains support for automatically cleaning up the .NET Framework 1.0, the .NET Framework 1.1, the .NET Framework 2.0, the .NET Framework 3.0 and the .NET Framework 3.5. This tool is designed as a last resort for cases where install, uninstall or repair did not succeed for unusual reasons.

The .NET Framework cleanup tool is available for download at the following locations:

              http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip

              http://cid-27e6a35d1a492af7.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Blog_Tools/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip

The copy of the tool is the same at both locations.  There are 2 locations so that the tool can still be downloaded even if one of the sites is temporarily unavailable.

              Reference: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx

Now restart the PC, and Please perform the steps provided below:

Download and install the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package from the following web link:

              http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en

Click the Download button on this page to start the download

To start the installation immediately, click Open or Run this program from its current location.
To copy the download to your computer for installation at a later time, click Save or Save this program to disk. (Recommended)

              3. Download and install the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1from the following web link:

              http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A8F5654F-088E-40B2-BBDB-A83353618B38&displaylang=en

Now, perform the Windows update and install the .Net 2.0 and 3.0 versions

              OR

The Microsoft .NET Framework packages can be installed from the following links also:

This is the direct link for Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x86) download.

              http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en

This is the download link for the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Redistributable Package

              I hope this may help.

              Regards

              Sykes ;D ;D ;D
