blank desktop and explorer.exe not working
« on: March 18, 2009, 03:14:17 PM »
Hey gang,

Old virus, new twist.

Girlfriend was having some spyware issues with her laptop due to limewire and myspace.  So I decide to try to play hero and fix it.  Downloaded two anti spyware bundles, (didn't know this was a no-no), NoAdware and Antispyware.  Ran the scans and went about cleaning up the bad stuff.  Re-booted.  Neglected to back it up first.  Oops.  When it restarted the desktop was all wallpaper.  No icons, no start menu.  CTR/ALT/DEL lets me into most everything, (P.I.A.), but when try to run explorer.exe, it says it's not found.  Do a reg search and it's all over, except in the Winlogin folder, which isn't there.  Could use some help unless I want to hold her hand everytime she wants to surf the net...  That'll land me on the couch for sure.

Thanks.
