    IE7 Corrupt?
    « on: April 12, 2009, 04:27:33 PM »
    Hello,

When I connect to the Internet through IE 7 my homepage is the Google advanced search page.  Instead of having full rows to enter my search there are small boxes on the right hand side.  You can still enter a multiple word search but you can only see two or three letters of what you type.

I also cannot download any mp3's from Napster.

I can access the Google advanced search page through Opera and it is the normal view of the page.  I also can download from Napster.

Is IE somehow corrupted? Can it be fixed?

    thanks  raiderfan1947

Can you post a screenshot of what it looks like? (http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,61232.0.html)

Try clearing IE's cache...run Disk Cleanup and re-boot...
Log back into google and report the results...

        Hi patio,

        Unfortunately no joy.

I'm not sure this is relevant but if I access Google through Opera everything looks normal.

Okay, it's possible a simple BHO or ActiveX is doing this. Unfortunately, (I am capable, but) I am not allowed to help in this area.

So....Read the information posted here: http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html
Then start a new topic here: http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?action=post;board=7.0, refer to this topic, and post the three logs.

A malware removal specialist will then assist you from there. If that doesn't solve your problem, then come back to this topic and we'll see what else we can do.

        Good luck. ;)

        Close IE.
Go Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools, and click on Internet Explorer (no add-ons). Same thing?

          Hello

@ Broni tried your suggestion no joy

@kpac  I am familiar with both SuperAntiSpyware and MBAM.  I have them on my PC. I will run new scans with them and post the logs as well as a  HJT log as suggested

          Thanks

Try doing a System Restore to before the problem started.

before that, try resetting internet explorer!

To use the Reset Internet Explorer:

             1. Exit all programs, including Internet Explorer (if it is running) O
             2. Open the Internet Options dialog box (either from within internet explore or through control panel.
             3. Click the Advanced tab.
             4. Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset.
             5. When Internet Explorer finishes resetting the settings, click Close in the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box.
             6. Start Internet Explorer again.

Resetting Internet explorer should not affect bookmarks/favorites but I'd back them up in case and when you start up internet explorer again, you'll probably have to redo all the customizations you want in it.

If this goes well, you're not going to need to do system restore.
