As an aside, I'm not sure about later versions, but Windows 2K simply can't use hubs daisy chained after a 5th one. (or maybe it was the fifth one that didn't work?).

In any case, if you have that many hubs, you probably have too many USB devices anyway.

Let alone too many wall outlets if you managed to get them all plugged in

I know when I start filling up my surge protector, at some point I think- Is this really necessary? do I really need my shaver plugged in all the time, let alone next to my computer?


Ok, well, not a shaver, but right now I have my router,monitor,speakers,external HD,USB hub,printer, laptop and cable modem in one.

I've been thinking of getting a UPS as well, since our power seems to be unreliable.

heh, one time the power flickered off long enough for my PC to stay off, and I spent a good 5 minutes trying to figure out what was wrong with my monitor. Until I saw the clock flashing. DUH!

i have 8 usb ports on my home made comp.but only one on my thinkpad,
my prenter,camera,headphones,keybord,mouse,and flashdreves,are all usb,there not all hooked up at the sane time but they could be .but i need a 4in1 hub for my thankpad to use more thing 1 thing at a time

I have my external hard drive plugged in. It used to be on firewire but for some reason my computer wouldn't always recognize it then, especially with short periods between turning on and off. The other one of my 5 USB ports is permanently occupied by either a digicam, mp3player or flash drive.

Hello,
I have 2 computers that I have 2 USB devices plugged into all the time, plus my 2 flash drives,  depending on which computer I am working on.
On computer 1 I have a USB printer and Mouse hooked up.
On computer 2 I have a USB mouse and Keyboard hooked up.  I also had 8 USB ports on this computer until my brother decided I didn't need my front USB ports and broke them for me.
