    after a restore...
    « on: April 02, 2009, 03:12:16 PM »
I had to do a system restore and it returned my computer to proper working condition. My question is, can I still access files that I had BEFORE the restore? Particularly word documents? Literally two days after the restore my flash drive was in my purse that got stolen...and it had the end of my book! So can I still get to that document after I have restored my computer??? Help please!

    Hello Miss,
you should be able to if you plainly did a Restore, unless you mean a System Re-install from your CD, than not likely.
Why don't you just search for that document, by name, or by a certain phrase in that document, if you can recall what it is.
    Good luck.

What kind of restore was it?
Windows System Restore, or computer Recovery?

you will find that if you restored to 2 months ago and you are looking for something installad/d/loaded  2 weeks ago those items would need to be re-installed..  although it may be possible to track those items perhaps this is something we both may learn about !!   :o   ;)

        Like this?

        1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore.

        2. On the Welcome screen, click Restore my computer to an earlier time, and then click Next.

        3. On the Select a Restore Point page, select the date from the calendar that shows the point you'd like to restore to, and then click Next.
