My Internet exlorer keeps shutting down !!
    « on: April 03, 2009, 12:41:56 PM »
    Hi,

yesterday I went through *censored* and back removing a virus called "spyware protect 2009". The issues linked to this virus are now gone (popups, alerts, etc) however my IE now has a popup that reads:

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

    Error signature:
AppName: iexplore.exe    AppVer: 6.0.2900.5512    ModName: unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0    Offset: 01ff1f9d

The following files will be included in this error report
    C:\DOCUME~1\j_hanaie\LOCALS~1\Temp\dc7a_appcompat.txt

I followed all the instructions regarding superantispy, malwarebytes, hjthis, etc.  Superantispy found 60 infected files that it removed (HOWEVER, there is no sign of the log that should be created in the "log/statistic" section).  Below are the Logs from the others:

I would try out firefox or another web browser to see if it works okay. And also try resetting internet explorer if you can, microsoft's instructions on how to do that is here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

Ask the malware specialists for more help if you still think it's related to your malware troubleshooting. Good Luck  :)

I already reset and I even deleted IE and reinstalled.  I have firefox as well but I need IE for some work related websites that are only supported by IE. Also, I wanna MAKE SURE that all malware/viruses are gone.  I'm not an expert, but in the highjack log that I posted, it lookes like there are still something wrong.

For firefox, you might go get the ie tab addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

The ie tab addon is basically internet explorer integrated into firefox tabs, that's what I use when I need ie for some reason except when activex or something that the actual external ie is required.

of course, get the malware experts of this forum to help you with your malware troubleshooting. While waiting though, I'd suggest you take a look at following link and the help list there: http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html
