    HELP WINDOWS VISTA
    « on: April 18, 2009, 10:16:29 AM »
Using window Vista on hp intel pentium pc...

My computer after auto configutation gives me dns or is it dsn error, page cannot be displayed. Like in facebook...I get the webpage no problem but when I type in my username and password won't let me log in...this happened yesterday also, tried all day to figure it out, called my internet service place, they said, connection was fine, it was my computer...welllll...I restore last night and it was ok...again just now my computar auto configurated again, wish I could control that, dunno how...anyways, again it's doing the same thing...This sucks...I asked if it was my IP adress , they said no..it was a problem with my pc...if so then why after restoring did it work ok and only again after configurating its doing this again? :'(

I thought it was maybe a virus i had but now dont think so...is there a way to stop this auto configuration? Like eally, so much stuff was configurated, hella if i even know what they mean!!!

Thank you in hopes you can find a solution  to this.

    Dyanne

( Is there a way to disable the auto configuration and will be it be safe for my computer? I was also wondering if something was disabled after this configuration that I should enable.   :'(

Check in Device manager to see if you have a hardware problem.......look for red X's or exclamtion points.....you may very well have a bug that's redirecting you......it may be in the restore file .

            Dyanne,

            I found this ....

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)”

What does that mean in plain English? It means that if the device which is throwing the error has added its own custom error text to your Windows system when the device was installed, then when the device encounters an error, you will see the custom error message specific to that device. But if it doesn’t have its own custom error message, then Windows uses its own generic error message for devices, which is “This device cannot start. (Code 10)”

Microsoft recommends that when this happens, you click “Update Driver” to update the drivers for the device. You can also start the Windows troubleshooting wizard by going to the general properties tab of the device, and clicking on “Troubleshoot”.

Before doing this, be sure that you have the correct and most up-to-date versions of the driver(s) for that device. You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the device, using the disk which came with it.

Finally, you can go to the website of the device’s manufacturer, and check their downloads or support section for current, up-to-date drivers.

            Here's more ....http://www.pchell.com/hardware/usbcode10.shtml

Try uninstall your camera and software first.

Can i ask you , can you get in my computer? reason i am asking is because the mesaage before the last one, it was said, This is what i found " this device manager cannot start (code10)...If so..hmmm can you find what is wrong? I am so not use of playing aroung in these folders.

I didnt use he disc for my digital camera when i loaded the pictures to my computyer I just plugged in my camera to my pc...

kk I will have to write all the devices that are not working for you.... I cant copy and paste them...

So, you're saying, when you run System Restore, all is back to normal until next restart?

Configuration, sorry. it's automatic every week if I am not mistaking, I don't reallt notice unless I am on the computer when it does. Has 3 steps. Can i try to update all these Drivers? When this is all fixed i have a few more question about my computer that is really ticking me off..like keyboard that seems to have a mind of it's on with the caps...jeep that for later and my D drive and mp3 player...

Yeah, I'm really not sure, what feature you're referring to.
You need to try to give us little bit more details.

Do you mean, you have a lot of Windows updates waiting to be installed?
What happens, when you try to install them?

If it's Vista...... Defender may have daily updates...
Set your Update options to Notify me only don't install...
Especially helpful when they release a broken updates which has happened before.

I normally wait about 3 weeks to install new updates...i check the Forums for issues in the meantime.

ok, but can it be only one device right now that's messing up my computer? i botice in pass updates that a few of the deviced failed to update but did install with succes later on. I do have defender. I dont have a choice of 3 weeks or a month, only a week, so i set it for next Saturday at 2 pm...now , when it does update, I am figuring this will happen again...only solution right now i can see and understand is to restore to a previous day my computer of ok.

Just wish i knew what was wrong  .

BTW, if i now check in the device manager will it show me  what all the deviced looked like two days ago? If you understand what I mean? I am just wondering if the devices i gave you still have that yellow warning.

ok, I set it up as you told me, however it does shut off the auto update, so many to choose from, how do i know the ones that are to be installed?

Install them one-by-one, restarting computer every time to see, if Device Manager stays OK.

Oh, install Windows updates only. Don't touch any device drivers updates, if proposed by Windows updates.

None of them ...or very few should be device drivers...Travel to Control Panel /System/Device Manager and post which devices have Yellow !'s next to them...

Go Start>Run ("Start Search" in Vista), type in:
                                          sfc /scannow
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista).
                                          Have Windows CD/DVD handy.
If System File Checker (sfc) will find any errors, it may ask you for the CD/DVD.
If sfc won't find any errors in Windows XP, it'll simply quit, without any message.
In Vista you will receive the following message: "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations".
