Upgrade Drivers to USB 2.0 Help
    « on: September 25, 2010, 04:06:38 PM »
I would like to upgrade my USB drivers to 2.0. When plugging in devices I get the bubble that says "This USB device can perform faster if plugged into a USB 2.0 port..." Of course I do not have any 2.0 ports.

I am running XP SP3 on a Dell Latitude C840 laptop.

The attached file has a screen shot of the setup in Device Manager and shows my existing drivers as: "Intel 82801CA/CAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2482". a second controller has the same name but ends with 2487.

I just want some advice since I have never updated board level drivers. Is there a recommended site to perform this function? I have visited the Intel site but cannot determine the correct drivers to use.

It's not the drivers, it's the usb ports themselves (the hardware). You can buy add-on usb2 pci cards and install them.
