    Flash folder
    « on: April 19, 2009, 05:29:27 AM »
I have the following files in my Flash folder with the path  C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\
       Flash10a.ocx
       FlashUtil10a
       install
       uninstall_activeX

My OS is Microsoft Windows Vista Basic.  My problem is that I am unable to delete the above 4 files, not even in safe mode.  Access is denied.
    Can anyone help?

OK i'll bite...since noone else did...why do you need to remove them ? ?
Why not use the uninstaller instead ?

I do not have the Adobe Flash program in the program list.  I want to delete the file Flash10a.ocx because my Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 listed this file as having a vulnerability that is very dangerous.

I do not have Macromedia Flash in my program list either.  Can I still use Macromedia uninstaller to remove Flash10a.ocx?

I downloaded the Macromedia Uninstaller, but when I tried to open it, I got a message saying "Windows cannot open this file
                       uninstall_flash_player.hqx"

          What can I do, please?

They tend to be protected. I have a vague idea that running the official uninstaller with the /clean switch removes the files but I've never used it. They have unusual permissions applied to them.

Additionally, they're out of date - the current Flash version lists Flash10b etc. If you actually run the FlashUtil10a.exe file, it ought to download the update and remove the old files itsef.

Oh and your error message mentioning "uninstall_flash_player.hqx"" means you tried to run the Mac version of the uninstaller...
