Before trying the XP CD if you have a spare power supply try to change your power supply first and see what will happen.

When you say that you tried the cd, do you mean that you booted to it and followed the repar instructions from this page:
      http://icrontic.com/articles/repair_windows_xp

Or do you mean that you were unable to boot to the CD?

Your gonna need a real XP CD. It has to be the same version EG... Home Edition, Professional, Media Center etc...

It's hard to say. This is the main drawback of not being able to actually see your computer. I do what I can, through our correspondence here on the internet. The next logical step would be to use a "real" XP CD. However, your problem may end up being hardware related. The reason I asked if you posted the right stop error earlier is that web gives many different causes for this particular error - service pack 3 being the most popular.

There are a lot more knowledgeable people than me on this forum. Hopefully, one of them will chime in soon.

By the way, did you dust out your computer?

Try changing your power supply and see what happens. Also, if you haven't cleaned the inside of your CPU i suggest you clean it now.

If i had another power supply laying around id change it, but ill have to save up a little money before i can get another one.

And i have not cleaned out the inside of it yet, ill get some air and clean it out soon.

Thanks for all the help  :)

Alternative. Disconnect Remove everything that takes poser but is not needed. CD-rim.Floopy Drive. Spare HDD. External USB anything, even mouse and key board. Start with older, safer PS/2 keyboard. And try and older, safer Video card.
If you box has a power problem, that might revel the problem.

Do you have another computer in working condition nearby?
Is this a laptop? Is it a major brand name or a custom built?
                How old is the computer?
                What kind of Video card?
Do you have USB Hubs? Usb printers? USB Flash drives?
