msmsgs.exe VIRUS
« on: May 02, 2009, 02:52:37 PM »
I've been having problems with 100% usage of the CPU, when I have only just logged on to my desktop and not even opened a program.  Sometimes it is so slow that programs won't open.  Anyway, I decided to find out just what all the 46 to 50+ process were doing that show up on the Task Manager.  I was doing OK until I came to msmsgs.exe and looked that up on ProcessLibrary.com and that site is telling me that it is:  W32AlcarysB@mm and it is a virus and to get rid of it.  I have Norton Antivirus which updates automatically so I am a little puzzled as to how this virus is still surviving if Norton is supposed to get rid of it and if Norton can't get rid of it, how can I do it?  Is it as simple as highlighting it on the Task Manager and then clicking on END PROCESS or do I have to track it down and delete it from my files?  I've tried putting it into SEARCH from the START button, but it came up with nothing.  How much trouble am I in here and how do I get out of it?  Thanks in advance for any help at all.

Please don't do anything until a malware removal specialist tells you to do so, except when creating the 3 logs.
