I cant find it. i found a file called C:\Acer Drivers\Lan_Broadcom(5788)_6.64.0.0_XPx86\Lan_Broadcom(5788)_6.64.0.0_XPx86\Drivers\WinXP on my laptop but doesn't work.

Any suggestions?
PCI bus 2, device 2, function 0, that i the location of where the driver is missin under other devices, ethenet controller (including ? Mark in yellow)

My computer is an Acer Travelmate 4000LCi
Intel Pentium M 1.4 Ghz
512 Mb Ram
Xp Pro Service Pack 3
Im using a Linksys PCMCIA Card to Access the internet but LAN plug does not work (Obviously)

Thanks for any advice or direction I recieve from yuo "Experts"

Re-install the MBoard chipset drivers...re-boot.
Check connectivity...if no joy-joy re-install the Ethernet drivers.

Thanks guys. I got it. I'm getting some random BLUE WINDOWS ERROR SCREENS NOW THOUGH. Only every once in a while. I took pictures of the blue screens. Any idea where I can go to look up the error messages to fix this thing. I just did a XP reinstall. DANGIT! Wireless and LAN work though. I will look into it futher but thanks for the help!

I looked under device manager and everything looks good. I even did the EVEREST program and it came up clean. Hmm.....

BSOD even comes up in safe mode if i leave it for a while. I don't get it. I am including a image of the BSOD i took maybe a week ago. Same message everytime in safemode or not. THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

Navigate to: C:\Windows\Minidump folder.
If you see any .dmp files, zip all of them, and attach zipped file to your next reply.

To me that looks like it's not an on board lan device it's an external lan card installed on your machine and you haven't A installed it correctly, or be your motherboard doesn't like it, i would say it's b, cause i think you installed it properly.. try another lan card

Yeah, i sues an external LAN card for a few days cus i couldnt get the intenal WLAN to work correctly. I have uninstalled that pcmcia card software since then. will get back with updates and posts on minidump files

Your errors are caused by w22n51.sys, which is Intel wireless LAN driver.
Get the driver here: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles%5CDriver/Wireless%20LAN/WLAN_Intel_8.0.12.20000_XPx86.zip?acerid=633638173966183591&Step1=Notebook&Step2=TravelMate&Step3=TravelMate%204000&OS=X01&LC=en&SC=PA_6, and reinstall it.

I only use that linksys card on my other machine. The reason I started using it on the ACER was because i couldn't get on the internet with the wireless internal card. I uninstalled that card on my ACER. Is that whats been giving me problems then. It trying to access a pcmcia card that I don't even use/have installed?

I don't know if it is or not. I unistalled the Linksys card. The link you gave me is for my Linksys Wireless -N Card so i didn't install it.

No, the link I gave you is for Intel wireless LAN driver.
Check in Device Manager, if Linksys is still listed there.

Im sorry, I got confused running back an forth with a USB Stick with drivers on it. I thought you gave me a zipped folder and I got confused with the Linksys. I am so sorry. I am reinstalling driver right now, No in device manager its not still there. I will take phote of my ethernet drivers in my device manager if I continue to have this problem. I think the link you gave me should do it since you guys know what your talking about and I just pretend to.

Error installing the driver. I will take a picture with phone and upload it. I tried installing and uninstalling it several times. I got the crappy intel Proset program to install and load but the drivers themselves gave me an error upon installation. I am transferring some files and do not have bitpim loaded on my apple which I am talking to you from right now. Give me a few and I will attach the picture of the error message. I am about to just reinstall windows, delete the partition, and reinstall everything again. What do you think or you won't know until you see the error messages I guess. Either ways, thanks for putting up me and my crappy computer stuff. Your awesome Broni. A million thanks!

Go to Device Manager>Network Adapters
What is exact name of that Intel adapter?
Then...
1. Right click on that adapter and click on Properties.
2. Under the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Path from the drop down box.
3. You should see a code similar to this:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27DC&SUBSYS_30868086
&REV_01\4&1E46F438&0&40F0
4. Post back data in red, and green.

All I could find was device instance ID. No device instance path. It it has a yellow exclamation next to it so i tried to uninstall it and it wouldn't let me unitil I rebooted. What should I do from here?

the driver reinstall was missing the w22n51.sys. I got on intel and found the solution. I can't beleive it but I am responding on my acer with my internal LAN card as we speak with no BSOD's. YAY. BRONI YOU ARE AWESOME!I wonder why that file was missing from the driver folder and had to integrate that myself. Thank god it worked. Knocking on wood. Will let you know if BSOD comesback. AMAZING!

Info you requested is as follows: exact name is Inter(R) Pro/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection #2. Couldn't find devic Instance path but could find device instance ID as PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4220&SUBSYS_27018086&rev_05. THis is harder that building my last computer. LOL! Thank god your here!

You know, that wireless chip may be simply failing. Try to reinstall the driver again, but, if it doesn't work, you may need to use an external card.

So here is the deal, I REINTALLED EVERYTHING like you told me to. No problems during installation by the way (Weird I know after all the trouble installing and unistalling the software/drivers) The Intel Software that came with the Drivers HAD to be installed and running. The only difference is that I am using an Apple router with WPA2 security which Intel on the card doesnt even give an option for when setting up to connect to a network, (only WEP and something else; not even sure if 128 bit excryption is an option; 64 bit at best). Especially setting it up with the password and what not. SO....I enabled Windows Wireless Config to take over the control of the Network Connection and put the password in. I guess The information got tranferred back (Somehow) to the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200m B/G Network Connection because it is showing a connection status on my taskbar. The problem before was that I had uninstalled the Intel connection software (but kept the drivers giving me the BSOD) but let Windows Zero Config do the job of the Intel software. This time around I have kept the software intalled but let Windows Zero Config take over control of the router but still kept the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200m B/G Network Connection program installed and running at the SAME TIME. They both show different connection qualities (Excellent under Windows Zero Config; Good Under Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200m B/G Network connection on my taskbar. I still have Windows Zero Config enabled but had Intel running at the same time and I haven't had a BSOD all night and I just woke up (Which is A FIRST FOR THE BSOD) so finally it works with no problems AT ALL (fingers crossed)

Thanks again BRONI because without your help I would have tried to reinstall windows but would have still ran into the same problem after trying to install the internal wireless card drivers from the ACER suport site. YOUR AWESSOME BRONI and without your patience this laptop would have been in the garbage!
