My vista laptops drive c is decreasing in memory HELP!
    « on: May 12, 2009, 05:29:37 AM »
Ok, i have checked EVERYTHING i can,

I have nothing left on my computer hardly to remove!!! i have disk cleaned up, removed programmes, if anything i should have a maximum of 30gb MAX but i dont and whatever it is keeps growing as its taking up more memory gradually, not like excessively over every hour or anything but over a few days etc, itll go back to the red until i uninstall something to free like 1gb.

Im not a complete amateur when it comes to computing but feel like one when it comes to vista.

I have 2gb RAM, Acer Aspire 5720 with intel core 2 duo processor.

I cannot figure out whats taking up the space and cannot find anything when searching or browsing manually.

I can find nothing more to remove, please help.

    ANY suggestions will be appreciated.

modify: i am just adding what it says:

    9.54gb free of 68.7gb

so whatevers going on its HUGE! :P

    Download DriveSpacio: http://drivespacio.en.softonic.com/
It'll help you to find out where hard drive space is allocated.
Some big "takers", not always clearly visible: restore points, page file, hibernation file...

    Also...

    Download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    Under Main choose: Select All
    Unselect Cookies.
    Click the Empty Selected button.

    If you use Firefox browser
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
    Unselect Cookies.
    Click the Empty Selected button.

    If you use Opera browser
Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
    Unselect Cookies.
    Click the Empty Selected button.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Do what broni said but also keep this in mind.....
Do you have a webcam? I have seen before that somebody's webcam would be on every time they had their computer on, recording.

I will try what Broni has said. No i dont have a webcam connected or built in to the laptop.

I am eager to find the culprit that is eating my c drive space... so will get back to you after trying that step.
