Well, yes, if you remember them, and the system(s) on which you use them have no problems with the special characters, they're good passwords -- certainly not easy to guess!

AKA Brute-Force cracking. Hydra and Brutus are the most popular for that sort of thing. But true, completely impossible. If you had a random number/character generator on the other hand, it will eventually get it, but it will take an extremely long time.

This is one time I do understand you. We are talking about passwords. Several have mentioned how hard the hard the good ones are to remember. So you want something that would not be clear to anybody else. If it is funny and nonsense and stays in you mind.

Well, it depends on the thing you want to do with the passwords. Are they for internet sites or bank accounts? It's obvious that they aren't easy to hack by humans or the classic password tools. The most important thing is to keep them secret

I didn't count them, but the passwords at the start all had eight characters, yes?  Even with a wide character set, I don't think it would necessarily take a thousand years to brute force them - a lot depends on the responsiveness of the target system and whether it locks out password attempts etc.  A quick system with no real anti-intrustion measures - I reckon 8 character passwords would probably fall within a few months, especially if you deployed a network of attackers.  (Divide and conquer.)

That can't be right. Like Rob said, most websites lock out after a certain amount of attemts, usually for about 15 minutes.

The method Helpmeh was talking about is mainly used for spam bots, as they are not usually do not understand what "Wait 15 minutes to login again" means.

ah I see must of missed that.  I prefer characters from games there really hard to know unless you played it and the spelling can be complex.  EX Bahamut, Shiva things like that I wouldnt recommend something like Spock or anything.  Hope that helped too

I tend to pick a line from a song and enter it with capitalisation and punctuation.  Granted you may end up with a 30 character password, but it's easy to remember and after you've typed it a few times, your speed will increase.  A 30 character password involving a mixture of case and non-alphanumeric characters is for all intents and purposes uncrackable and will probably remain so for the next decade at least.
