I use XP Pro.
Dell shipped Vista on an installation disk with the machine that had  XP pro loaded.

I don't know how to run both XP Pro and Vista at the same time?
You can install two OS on the same machine and select which one you want to boot during startup.  This normally involves installing each OS on a separate partition of a partitioned single hard drive or on two different hard drives. This is called a dual-boot configuration.

While Vista is what I currently use, I would rather have XP.  That shoul dhave been the 2nd part of the toll.

        I currently have 3 main PC's.
        A Win2000, XP Pro (on 2 of 3) and a Vista Basic.
In a month i'm ditching the Win2000 and going to Ubuntu (Linux).
Has anybody tried Ubuntu....did you like it?

Ubuntu is nice ...and fairly solid.
But not fully matured as yet.

I would suggest DLoading the Live version and run it on your machine to see how it goes befor installing it...

The nice thing about Linux is the control. The user has complete control and it has many preferences.

          What does that mean?
          What kind of control?
I have complete control of my Windows computer.

OMG! JJ! what a coincidence! So do I!

Windows has a lot of preferences- so many most people are overwhelmed...

I think we might need some clarification from milesman about exactly what he means...

I have complete control over all the servers and workstations in my building, by virtue of this large button I keep seeing everwhere.  It's hard to describe in just text, but it's always labelled something like this:  ( | )
