It's difficult to know where to start trying to decode your post. What does "just south of the disk thing." mean
What's a "disk thing"
it would then go to an error screen where it said a cable was unplugged and that i need to insert a disk.
We cannot see your display so need you to tell us
exactly what appears on the display.
a really loud banging noise
Any noise is not a good sign. It could be caused by a faulty fan but who knows? The only hardware info you give is that it's a Toshiba laptop, no model type or description of any kind.
