Goodafternoon Gents,

I just upgraded my macbook ram from 1.5gb 667mhz ddr2 to 3gb ram, But i honestly see a very small difference. Does anyone know if this is normal or perhaps i need to do something more? Any answers will be appreciated thanx. Processor Name:

Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed:   2 GHz
Number Of Processors:   1
Total Number Of Cores:   2
L2 Cache:   4 MB
Memory:   3 GB

What did you have in there for ram before?

Also, what applications are you using?

For example: If you're just browsing the web and word processing you're not really going to notice the ram difference. However, if you're using Photoshop, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Logic, etc. you will definitely notice it (or even if you're just opening a bunch of small apps at once).

Thanx for the reply. I had 1.5 gigs before i upgraded to 3 gigs. I usually for the most part use it for the internet.

you cant have an odd figure like that 1 gb is slightly larger then that. Assumeing that it was probably 128 mb your probably not going too.

Honestly, you may not notice the speed difference right away then. It will help immensely if you ever start using those other programs, or even if you just start multitasking more (having an instant messenger open, word document, internet, email, etc.).

It will also help down the road as apps continually need more and more ram.

cause you cant have 1.5 gb of ram no matter what they dont make such an odd number goes from 128 mb , 512 mb, 1 gb which are all slightly larger 1 gb is really 1043 gb only a few mb bigger so I have to assume thats what he had installed.

That's not true.

The macbook has 2 open slots, as do many notebooks. Depending on the type of ram, it may or may not need to be paired. If it does not need to be paired, it's possible to have 1.5 gigs (1 1 gig stick + 1 512mb stick).

ah you simpified it which threw me off. I'm used to seeing it as 1,512 gb instead since its just more common or make it in a differnt way like half a gig an a gig.

actually 1,512 is not even an option.

If it were 1.5 gigs it would be 1,536 megs.

that maybe so but that is not what they put on the ram its self. Possible that it may be something else you should notice a differnece some what.
