Excel will not start
« on: May 17, 2004, 07:54:18 AM »
When I try to start Excel, the message "Excel has caused an error in MS09.dll" appears.  I have run repair, reloaded Office 2000 Small Business, and attempted these suggestions:  rename ms09.dll (not found), delete all *.xlb files (none found), remove 'FindFast' from Startup (not there).  The OS is Windows ME.  I wanted to set up Outlook as well, but got the same message.  Any suggestions?
Thanks, Doogster

This is because the file MSO9.dll (that's an O for Oscar, not zero) is faulty. Microsoft says to rename the file 'just in case' and use Add/remove programs to repair Office 2000 (the uninstaller has a repair option). or try scanreg/restore command after the the m$do$ prompt and pick the last good cab file..

Doogster.......perhaps given  your problems , you might want to consider formatting your hard drive and doing a clean install.......in the long run it may be the best fix.

If you don't know the answer, it isn't a dumb question.
