World's First 128GB USB Drive
« on: June 18, 2009, 09:06:52 AM »
http://www.techtree.com/India/News/Kingston_Unveils_Worlds_First_128GB_USB_Drive/551-103311-581.html

Kingston has introduced world's first 128GB USB drive. This 128GB drive joins Kingston's DataTraveler 200 series drives with 32GB and 64GB capacity. Kingston will be offering new DataTraveler 200 USB drives at $120 for 32GB, $213 for 64GB and whopping $546 for 128GB. Now seriously, one can buy a standard netbook for the price of 128GB USB drive.

Kingston's new DT200 USB drives features Password Traveler, a password protection feature for protecting critical data inside. The capless design features slide-in feature to protect the USB connector.

All new 32GB, 64GB and 128GB DT200 USB flash drives are certified for Windows Vista and enhanced for Windows ReadyBoost feature. Windows ReadyBoost is available in Windows Vista and Windows 7 to use any USB flash drive as a drive for system disk cache to improve the performance. However, it should be noted that Password Traveler won't operate properly if Windows ReadyBoost feature is in use.

Another company called EdgeTech has also come out with cheaper DiskGO 128GB USB flash drive for $390.

Kingston offers new DT200 USB flash drives with five years warranty and free tech support. We're yet to hear about the Indian price and availability of these new DT200 USB Flash drives from Kingston. Stay tuned to this space for further details.

Very nice, K...    ;D

I tried to find an article which better explains how they're physically built, but work keeps intruding.

It's not a bold prediction to expect a terabyte flash drive in a few years.

Very cool. Although I'd never recommend someone buying these for another few months, since new storage goes down so fast in price.

Gift certificates or not I think I will find a nice cheap one on ebay and save myself the hassle of an external hdd.

    HOWEVER!!!!...

Haven't we all forgoton to double check our pockets before we wash our clothes at least once?  I've lost quite a few things for that, including a couple usb drives, a cell phone, and thousands of pencils and pens!
So I think I will stay with an external hdd.  Because how often do you throw that in the wash?

It's not the only spark plug for your van is it?

There must be an easier way, like a club?
